Team Building 2007

The Team Building 2007 was held last April 09-10, 2007 at the Tubod Flowing Waters, Tubod, Minglanilla, Cebu. The activity was organized to prepare the new officers of their upcoming tasks for the next school year. The incumbent officers was able to share their journey for one school year (the hardships and the sacrifices they've been through) and making sure that these will become valuable lessons to look up on in the coming school year.

"A Start of something New"

The DOST SA CEBU 1st Scholars Night theme for SY 2006-2007 held last January 20, 2007 at Cheaverz Grill, Talamban, Cebu.

The event was attended by almost 500 DOST scholars who came and thought that the activity was just for a meal but they were'nt expecting that there were lots of fun in-stored for them not just an ordinary dinner instead. The scholars was delighted to witness various talents of their co-scholars in art and music not just a bookworm and hardheaded genius, as many others say "utukan unta badlungon lang!" The image of DosT scholars have grown into various forms as many other were linked in groups and movements in the society.

"Trashion Show" and the "Sholars Idol" made a marked in the whole night of merry making and excitement. DOST SA CIT grabbed the 1st prize in the Trashion Show while Mr. James Nogra of DOST SA UP took the loudest cheers in the search for the Scholar's Idol that made him one the title.
Mr. Rodel Maningo(DOST-SEI head coordinator), Mr. ROberto Base(DOST SA CIT), and Ms. Josephine Villa(DOST SA CSCST) showed their support for such event.

"The Scholar's Night was really a wonderful event in which DOSt Scholars were able to show their talent, hope this will happen next year..." Mr. Maningo, SEI VII coordinator said during after the activity.

Special Assembly

The Special Assembly was organized to acquaint the school based coordinators and DOST-Science Education Institute VII coordinator with the planned activities of DOST SA CEBU, this will serve as the venue for an open forum regarding the activities and further improvements or suggestions to make the endeavor a success.

The assembly will promote camaraderie between coordinators and prejudge the DOST SA CEBU officers about their goals for a span of one year. Also in the assembly, problems regarding the association shall be address directly to respondents and possible solution will be tackled by the mojority for the better good of DOST SA CEBU.

The 1st Special Assembly was held at Dimsum Break, Banilad Town Center, Banilad Cebu last August 04, 2006. The SY 06-07 officers presented their goals and planned activities for the scholars like; Tree planting and outreach programs, Seminars, projects, and the Scholars' Night. The officers faced various criticisms that further became a learning factor after the activity.

The presence of Mr. Jun Capuyan (adviser) and with the support of the newly choosen DOST-SEI secretaries, Mr. Rodel Maningo and Ms. Venus Retuya, school based coordinators, Mr. Roberto Base(CIT) and Ms. Josephine Villa(CSCST) and Mr. Jesus F. Zamora (Technical Division-DOST VII) and Ms. Bernarda G. Perez (Administrative officer V-DOST VII) has made the 1st Special Assembly a success.

The 2nd Special Assembly was held at the Conference Hall of DOST VII, last December 01, 2006. The DOST SA CEBU officers, adviser Mr. Jun Capuyan, DOST-SEI head-coordinator Mr. Rodel Maningo, CSCST coordinator Ms. Josephine Villa and two other SEI coordinator were able to participate the 2nd assembly of the school year in preparation for the plans of DOST SA CEBU to amend the constitution and for the "Scholars' Night".

The new sets of officers was elected during the annual electorate assembly held at Dimsum Break last March 10, 2007 wherein various school-based officers attended the gathering. Mr. Rodel Maningo, the DOST -SEI Head-Coordinator witnessed the event together with other two colleagues at the SEI office namely; Ms. Venus Retuya and Ms. Elvirg Figura.

The Department of Science and Technology Scholars' Association of Cebu is an organization of all DOST Scholars here in Cebu, who graduated and are currently enrolled in eight(8) various schools namely; Cebu Institute of Technology (CIT), Cebu State College of Science and Technology (CSCST), Center for Industrial Technology and Enterprise (CITE), Southwestern University (SWU), University of Cebu and College of Technological Sciences - Cebu (UC-CTS), University of the Philippines-Cebu Campus (UP-CC), University of San Carlos (USC), University of San Jose - Recoletos (USJ-R). It serves as venue of all dost scholars in Cebu for camaraderie and friendship. And in order to foster good relations among scholars from different universities and colleges, the association conduct various activities such as Outreach Programs, Tree Planting, the Annual Scholars Night, Seminars and many others.
